Seedy Njie joins Histon FC on loan

The 19-year-old, who joined the English Conference North [sixth-tier] side on an initial month’s loan, went straight into coach Brian Page’s squad for Saturday’s 4-4 draw away to leaders North Ferriby United.

The Scorpions were adjudged the 131st best football playing team in the world according to the ranking released earlier in December.

Gambian referee Bakary Papa Gassama is among three referees from Africa selected to officiate at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Having been beaten by Algerian Haimoudi Djamel for the Referee of the Year at the 2013 CAF Awards in Lagos, Nigeria, the Gambian has been chosen by FIFA to officiate at this year’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

Bakary Papa Gassama up for CAF Referee of the Year award

The 34-year-old FIFA match official from the Gambia’s North Bank village of Meme has been shortlisted for CAF’s Referee of the Year award along with two others – Cameroonian Alioum Néant and Algerian Djamel Haimoudi, who won the award in 2012.
