Former Gambian sports minister Lamin Kaba Bajo has been elected as the new president of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) for the next four years.

The 49-year-old career diplomat amassed 28 votes while his contestant Buba Mbye Bojang, a carpenter by profession, got 23 votes in an election held at a local hotel.

Hon. Alhagie Sillah has been appointed as head of a five-man Gambia Football Federation Normalisation Committee set up by football governing body, FIFA.

The National Assembly member, who represents the Banjul North constituency in the legislative branch of government, will head the committee appointed by FIFA on 10 July 2014.

FIFA appoints Normalisation Committee for Gambia

World football governing body, FIFA, has appointed a Normalisation Committee to govern the affairs of Gambian football for the next two months.

This development comes after the FIFA Emergency Committee decided today, 10 July 2014, in accordance with article 7 par. 2 of its Statutes to authorize the government to identify five persons to form such committee in order to solve the problems faced by the Gambia Football Federation (GFF).
