Gambia disqualified from U-20 qualifiers for fielding overage players

The Gambia has been disqualified from the 2015 African U-20 Championship qualifiers for fielding five overage players.

The Gambia U-20 team were thrown out of the qualifiers to face Ivory Coast in the second round of the preliminaries after a CAF committee ruled a protest case in favor of Liberia.

Finnish Veikkausliiga club MYPA have signed Gambia international midfielder Dawda Bah on a one-year contract, this blog can report.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who has been without a club since leaving Veikkausliiga rivals Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS), finally found himself a new home in Myllykoski after he signed on a free transfer with his deal set to run until the end of the 2014 league season.

Abdoulie Bojang named Gambia U-17 coach

Head coach Abdoulie Bojang of Steve Biko has been named as the new Gambia U-17 boss ahead of the 2015 African Under-17 Championship qualifier.

Lie Bojang was appointed the nation’s U-17 gaffer after a recommendation by the Gambia Football Federation.

The Gambia Football Federation has appointed Gamtel manager Mustapha Manneh as the new head coach of the Gambia Under 20 team.

The four-time FA Cup winning coach takes over the managerial job left vacant by former coach Lamin Sarr, a member of the current Bakau United technical team.

Gambia Under 20 coach Mustapha Manneh has announced his final 31-man squad set to face Liberia in the first round qualifiers of the 2015 African U-20 Championship next month.

Tapha Manneh, who was appointed as coach of the U-20, revealed that he finalized his squad last Friday for this month’s qualifiers which will take place in Liberia in the weekend of 4, 5 and 6 April 2014, as his team continues preparations.

Gambia international midfielder Yankuba ‘Mal’ Ceesay has joined Finnish Kakkonen [third-tier] side AC Kajaani on a one-year contract, this blog can reveal.

The Gambia international, who was a free agent after his two-year contract with Estonian Meistriliiga side JK Nõmme Kalju came to an end at the end of last season, signed for the Finnish third division side on a free transfer.

Kuopion Palloseura re-sign Ebrima Sohna

Finnish club Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS) have re-signed Gambia international Ebrima Sohna until the end of the 2014 Veikkausliiga season, this blog can reveal.

The deal for the 25-year-old midfielder, who played for relegated Kazakhstan Premier League side FC Vostok last season, is subject to a medical, Kuopion Palloseura said on their website.
