Kandji joins Greek club Kalloni

Gambia-hopeful Macoumba Kandji has finally found a home away from the United States as he joined Greek Football League [second tier] side Kalloni FC, this blog can reveal.

Prior to signing the contract in Greece, Kandji made his way through Turkey on trial with French Ligue 2 side Clermont Foot Auvergne 63 though negotiations were said to break down with Clermont and both had moved on.

Dawda Bah's contract terminated by Augsburg

German Bundesliga club FC Augsburg have terminated the contract of Gambia international attacking midfielder Dawda Bah after a tough start to his career in Bavaria.

The 29-year-old has struggled for form since joining Augsburg during Jos Luhukay’s reign as coach and was since sidelined with an injury that ruled him out for a lengthy period of time.

Bah’s only appearance in the Bundesliga lasted just 13 minutes, when he came off the bench to replace Axel Bellinghausen in Augsburg’s fifth game of the 2011/2012 campaign, which was a 4-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen before sustaining the training ground injury.

Muzzy returns in Boro’s U21 defeat to Chelsea

Gambian winger Mustapha Carayol made his long awaited return from injury playing nearly an hour in Middlesbrough U21s’ narrow 3-2 defeat away to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The home side were stunned on 34 minutes when Boro took the lead. Carayol received the ball just inside the Chelsea half and drove down the left hand channel. He got to the goal line and his delivery across the area was knocked into the net by Ryan Brobbel.

Sporting Lisbon sign Seejou King on loan

Portuguese Segunda Liga [second tier] side Sporting Clube de Portugal B [Sporting Lisbon B] have signed Danish-born Gambian defender Seejou ‘Krea’ King, 20, on loan for the rest of the season, this blog can exclusively reveal.

King’s rights are owned by Danish champions FC Nordsjælland but the deal includes an option to sign the Gambian defender to a permanent deal.

Dampha’s Nancy through to last 16 of Coupe de France

Gambia international midfielder Abdourahman Dampha and his Ligue 1 side Nancy moved into the last 16 of the Coupe de France as they overcame fancied Nice on penalties.

The Gambian midfielder played the full game against Nice, who are fourth in Ligue 1. Nice took the lead against Dampha’s bottom side Nancy through Alexy Bosetti after seven minutes.
