Gambia's Ebrima Sohna signs for Al-Arabi |
Gambia international Ebrima Sohna has
completed a move to Kuwaiti side Al-Arabi on a two-and-half-year contract.
The
27-year-old midfielder joined on a free-transfer from Finnish club Kuopion
Palloseura, whom he guided to a 9th place finish in last year’s Veikkausliiga,
playing 29 of the club’s 33 league matches.
The
former FC Vostok, Rovaniemen Palloseura, Sandefjord and Wallidan player landed
in Kuwait in the early hours of Thursday morning on-board EgyptAir Flight
MSR612 before putting pen to paper in the afternoon.
Sohna, who spoke to Sports Link from his base in Mansūriya said: “The fans here are going crazy even before I play for the team, the people love football. I am super happy to complete this transfer and I cannot wait to get started!”
Jordanian
agent Loay Yaser Al-hmoud, who was influential in the Gambian’s transfer together
with his Kuwaiti partner Fahad AlAhmad, said: “I and my partner [AlAhmad]
worked hard to strike this deal [between Sohna and Al-Arabi]. I am so happy
because I know he is good and a skillful player with good national team
experience.”
Al-Arabi
Sporting Club is a Kuwaiti Club based in Mansūriya that sponsors a number of
teams, the most notable of which is the Association Football team in the VIVA
Premier League. They were named Al-Uruba at the beginning of 1953 before
changing to Al-Arabi SC in 1960. They were the first Kuwaiti team to compete in
the Asian Champions and have won 57 official trophies next to its name in the
Kuwaiti Club Football history(55 domestic and 2 GCC), the most of any Kuwaiti
football team.
