EPL powers ‘could swoop’ for Kekuta Manneh |
Gambia
and Vancouver Whitecaps superkid Kekuta Manneh is on the radar of Premier
League clubs, this blog can reveal.
The Daily Star claims that Manneh delivered another nudge to
Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal after becoming the youngest player to score a Major
League Soccer hat-trick.
Manneh, 18, netted a classy treble for the Vancouver
Whitecaps in their 4-1 win over Seattle Sounders last Wednesday evening.
His masterclass performance led to him being voted Major
League Soccer’s player of the week after becoming the youngest player in league
history to score a hat trick. The hat trick was also the first in club history.
The former Steve Biko forward shot to fame in America during
his time at U.S. Soccer Development Academy Lonestar Soccer Club, where he
banged in 21 goals in 16 games, and has been likened to former France and
Arsenal great Thierry Henry.
He spent a week with Chelsea back in 2010 and Arsenal scouts
were sent out to the United States to watch him in 2011.
And although he didn’t do enough to seal a move to the
Premier League, interest in the youngster remained high.
Liverpool gave him the opportunity to train on Merseyside
and they were linked with a switch for him over the summer.
The 5ft 9in hitman is regarded as one of the most exciting
prospects to enter the MLS. Manneh is a huge fan of the Premier League and is a
regular watcher of games and it is understood that he is a big Manchester
United supporter.
