Yusupha Njie joins Moroccan club FUS de Rabat

Real de Banjul midfielder Yusupha Njie has joined Moroccan Botola Pro side FUS de Rabat on a four-year contract, this blog can reveal.

The 19-year-old midfielder signed for Jamal Sellami’s Botola Pro side having impressed the Rabat-based club during a brief trial spell.

Njie was instrumental in Real de Banjul’s 2-1 victory over FUS de Rabat in the CAF Champions League which prompted their head coach, Sellami, to invite him for a brief trial with a view to a permanent contract.

Yusupha, who is the son of Gambia legend Alhaji Momodou Nije more commonly known as Biri Biri, “is a player with lots of talents, a great match winner who is good in aerial balls and has good tempo with the ball,” a statement on Real de Banjul’s website stated.

Yusupha Njie has also featured regularly at international level, having represented The Gambia at under-17 and senior national team level.

Fath Union Sport de Rabat is a Moroccan football club currently playing in the first division [Botola Pro]. The club was founded on 10 April 1946. ‘Fath Union Sport de Rabat’ is actually the name of the sports club which encompasses everything from Basketball to the game of Chess. But what the club is most renowned for is their football team.

Fath Union Sport de Rabat was founded on 1946 when Morocco was under the French protectorate. The club is considered the heir of Union Sportive de Rabat-Salé, founded on 1932, which was the first nationalist club in Morocco according to the late Père Jégo, one of the Moroccan football historic symbols. This club was dissolved by the French authorities in 1944.
