Gambia international striker Ousman Jallow |
Gambia
international striker Ousman Jallow is currently undergoing a two-week trial
with Danish Superligaen club SønderjyskE, this blog can report.
Jallow has been without a club since
leaving promoted Turkish Süper Lig club Çaykur Rizespor ten months ago.
The Turkish club decided to terminate the
striker’s remaining six months contract after he failed to recuperate from an anterior
cruciate knee ligament injury and a Hepatitis B infection, which he later
recovered from.
But SønderjyskE have now given the former Çaykur
Rizespor, Brøndby IF, Raja Casablanca, Al Ain and Wallidan FC striker a career
lifeline by handing him a 14 days trial even though the club’s Sporting
Director Ole Nielsen claims the Gambian is not a priority for the Haderslev-based
side.
“I would not say that Ousman Jallow is the
first priority. We had the opportunity to see him, but we are also looking at
other options. Jallow has been in Turkey. He was young in Brondby, and he has
scored some goals in Turkey. We had the opportunity to see him the way, and we
would like to see him,” SønderjyskE Sporting Director Ole Nielsen said.
“Through our network we have been able to
get a closer look at him. He started on Monday, and we will have him for 14
days.”
“We know him from his time in Brøndby. But
three years have passed between so we must wait and see where he is. And he is
not the only striker we have on the block. There are other names in the game,”
Nielsen added.
The Gambia international is valued at €800,000
by Transfermarkt, a German-based website that has footballing information, such
as scores, results, transfer news, and fixtures.
Ousman Jallow scored 19 goals in 47
appearances during his stay at Çaykur Rizespor and he is bent on seeking a new
adventure elsewhere with a second coming to Danish football after quitting Brøndby
IF in 2011 for Rizespor.
