Gambian coach Bye Malleh Wadda hopes to beat the drop in Kenya

Gambian coach Bye Malleh Wadda is confident his Kenyan Premier League side Nairobi City Stars will make the top eight in the Premier League.

The Stars are hoping to be able to avoid the relegation places in the coming season and according to their Gambian head coach, they are in good shape for the challenge.

“The main thing this year will be avoiding relegation which has been an issue in the last two seasons. If we can beat that, then I will be happy,” Wadda told Kenyan news outlet, Futaa.

“We have prepared well and I am of the opinion we can beat relegation and even finish in the top eight positions,” he added.

Malleh Wadda also admitted that getting positive results at home will decide their fate this season.

The Stars got off to the worst possible start in the current Premier League campaign, going down 4-0 to KCB [Kenya Commercial Bank] and the coach knows that his side will have to produce good things when at home to do well.

“Our home games will obviously be important since we know that travelling away from home is like a lottery in this league.”

“We will have to take advantage of them to have chance of doing well this season which is to avoid the relegation battle and focus on the top eight,” he said prior to the KCB loss.

Bye Malleh will have his chance to stake a claim for home points when his side face Thika United this weekend.
